Bali: An Unexpected Trip (Part 3)

by - 12:00 PM

One thing you should do during your vacation: If you have chance to sleep, just go to sleep. Don't stay up late especially if you have long plan ahead. No matter how exciting your trip is, you always need time to rest so you can be ready for another trip on the next day. Don't do something ridiculous like me.

Since the previous day we woke up late, I was afraid that the next plan wouldn't go well as we hoped. So instead of sleeping, I decided to stay up late. I was tired, but I couldn't sleep. Maybe I was haunted by feeling that we could fail our plan again. I didn't swallow any energy booster like coffee (I don't drink coffee) or energy drink; I relied on myself that I could stay awake during the day.

The worse part for me, today was the day we visited some beaches in South Kuta and Uluwatu. Then, I was the only one who could ride motorcycle.

So the third day was beach safari! We wanted to visit some beaches in South Kuta and Uluwatu. It was so sunny and it's going to be very hot but it's great actually. So, what was our first choice?

First destination: Pandawa Beach
We chose the farthest beach from our place, because we had this plan: went to the farthest first, then we moved to west beaches that was closer to our hotel.

There's something happened during our trip. Before we arrived at Pandawa Beach, our bike got trouble. The back tire was deflated. Fortunately we could find a tire repairman nearby, but I was suspicious when I saw the way he repaired the tire; he just fixed it with something sticky. At first we were confused, but we just accepted it then continued our ride.

Finally we made it to Pandawa Beach. It did take pretty long time but it's totally worth it. This was the second time I went to Pandawa but the previous was late afternoon. The sands were white, the sea was so blue... What a refreshing view! We're not taking too much time in Pandawa since it was so hot even though we arrived at 9 a.m.. We just had breakfast there (and looking at some cute dresses & Petek bought it), took some photos, then went to next beach.

When we got back to our bike, the back tire was deflated again! Damn, I knew there's something wrong. We were absolutely confused to find nearest auto workshop since we're on beach. The entrance gate of Pandawa from beach was freaking far. Confused, then I decided to ride it until we reached the security office near the "Pandawa Lima" statues.

Once again miracle happened. After we told our problem, in short an officer helped us to bring our bike to the main road. He said there was an auto workshop there so we could fix our bike there. He rode our bike while we took his motorcycle. We couldn't thank him enough for his help. After that the bike got the proper fix, and you know what? The repairman said, "The inner tire (in the back tire) was for the front tire."

What the...? So that was the real issue. We had to pay IDR 40K to buy new inner tire. Fortunately I brought enough cash since there wasn't any ATM there. Done with our trouble, we continued our trip safely!

At first, we already arrived Suluban Beach, but I remembered I had been there and... the entrance stairs was like hell. It had so much stairs and the beach was far enough. We also couldn't do anything there since the ocean wave was quite big (it's suitable for surfers). Then we moved to Uluwatu Temple. Unfortunately we had to cancel (again) going inside the temple, because I only wore short, I ran out of money (thanks to flat tire) & Petek either, so I couldn't rent sarung. Too bad, wasn't it?

Second destination: Padang-padang Beach
This is one of my favorite beach in Bali because it's clean and not too crowded. I have been here 2 years ago, by the way. There was stairs on the entrance but it's still tolerable; but watch out for monkeys! Finally we found great spot to lay down and chill there.

Since we had plenty time in Padang-padang Beach before catching sunset, I decided to... sleep! Can you imagine sleeping on beach when the sun strikes your face at 1 p.m.? LOL. I made my bag as emergency pillow and sands as my comfy bed. I did need rest for a while before going somewhere. Besides, lack of sleep made me cranky. I almost lost my cellphone because I accidentally dropped it on sands. I was panic but sleepy at the same time. Well, it was pretty chaos.

That's why folks, never stay up late during vacation!

We had good time at Padang-padang Beach, but it's getting late and we needed to eat something. We hadn't have lunch that day, so it would be our very late lunch. So we went to a food tenant around Uluwatu. We were also getting closer to the next beach.

Last destination: Balangan Beach
This is also my favorite! The route to Balangan Beach was complicated but it didn't matter at all. The view here was sooo beautiful!

I saw some couples did their pre-wedding photo shoots. I saw around 9 couples there! Well, Balangan seems famous among couples who will tie the knot. Not only that, on the cliff (the photo inserted) there was a couple who got married. They had such a beautiful and memorable scenery for their wedding!

I could say that Balangan was the perfect place to watch sunset. The view from beach to sea was so clear and amazing.

The third day ended with happy feeling since we could visit three beaches in one day. Well it wasn't too impressing, but at least today was so fun!

Day 4

Day 4 was not hectic as the previous day. It was time for sightseeing around the city. That was our first plan but here's the crazy part: we decided to go back to Pandawa Beach; I wanted to buy a grey dress which was very difficult to find. We didn't mind going back after what happened before. To shorten our time, we tried to use the toll road that built onto sea. When we passed the toll road, the wind literally blew us! The wind was so strong, even my helmet almost flied from my head!

After having a very short comeback to Pandawa we went to Krisna, a well-known gift shop in Bali. We wanted to buy something for our family back in Bandung & Jakarta. I remembered my dad wanted an "udeng" (a headband made from particular fabric), so I did buy him some udeng(s). Actually we didn't buy much gifts since it wasn't our main purpose having vacation in Bali (also we had very limited money, LOL). Then we went to Batu Belig Beach to spend some time watching sunset. I also got some pictures of Bali's sky at night which was so beautiful.

Day 5

Today was the last time we stayed in Bali. I was so sad, I hoped I could stay few days more since I haven't explored north Bali (I wish this year I can go back to Bali plus Lombok, amen!). Petek and I were getting ready to go to Damri bus shelter. The rented motorcycle was given back already, and we used Gojek again to Denpasar. The same route and transportation applied when we went home, but we arrived in Bandung at around 10 pm on the next day.

This trip was so challenging yet amazing. This was the first time I only had one company to travel outside Java Island. It was fun, really. The unexpected plan that ended with (also) an unexpected trip often gave me something exciting.

7 days, 5 days 4 nights in Bali, 2 days on road.

New experiences.
New inspirations.

Traveling is addictive.
Once you get out there, you will never want to stop wandering.

Adios! See you on the next story of my trip!
